The Brazilian Mining Association [Instituto Brasileiro de Minera?o ?IBRAM] is the national entity which represents the companies and institutions that works in the mining industry in Brazil. It is a private, non-profit association, which aims at congregating, representing, promoting and disclosing the Brazilian mining industry, contributing for its national and international competitiveness. In addition to that, the Institute also seeks to foment the sustainable development and the use of better safety and occupational health practices in mining, by means of good practices, supporting studies, researchs, development, innovation and the use of the best available technologies.
The exchange of ideas and know-how, as well as the discussion of obstacles in the mining industry and of the mineral industry? concernment, is something highly encouraged by IBRAM, mainly in the events promoted by the Institute, which always attract a vast audience: university students, government? authorities, policy makers, and business people. Such events include training courses, seminars, workshops, congresses, etc.
Another great task is to disseminate and increment the technological capability and of human resources, employed in the mining industry. Besides defending the sustainability, the respect to the environment and to water resources, IBRAM always seeks to improve the life quality of society in general, particularly the communities in where there are mining activities, especially those populations closest or directly related to the mines.
Qualifying technologically, expanding e market and the competitiveness of the mining industry are really just some of the Institute? goals. Mining, one of the foundations for progress in the Country, seeks with the support of IBRAM, the economic and social development, having as a principle the respect to the environment and the sustainability!
